Sodium Valproate (Epilim) – Matters for your TD/Senator

As you know, OACS Ireland alongside our colleagues in Epilepsy Ireland are continuing to keep the pressure on Government regarding the many outstanding matters surrounding Sodium Valproate (Epilim).

  1. The establishment of an inquiry into the historical licensing and prescribing of Sodium Valproate (Epilim).
  2. The strengthening of risk reduction measures (recruitment of Epilepsy Nurse Specialists and the establishment of a Stakeholder Group).
  3. The need for services to be put in place for families impacted by Sodium Valproate (Epilim).

We will continue to do all we can in our capacity to progress these matters and when updates become available, we will share these on our website and social media channels.

However, we also need your support.

We are appealing to you our members to please take the time to contact your local TD and/or Senator.

We have sent you out a template letter that you can send to you TD/Senator, and we would ask that you take the time to email your local representatives on this. Use this letter as a template and amend accordingly to include your own personal experience of Sodium Valproate.

You can find details of your local TD’s and Senators by clicking HERE.

We would appreciate if you could keep us updated on who you have contacted and whether they have responded. You can let us know this by contacting Karen and/or Theresa on info.oacsireland@gmail.com

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch. Together we can ensure that our families are heard and that we get the answers and supports we deserve.

Thank you

OACS Ireland
